“I grew up on a farm in west Texas where the only access I had to art was a “P” encyclopedia.

Starla is a professional Austin artist and Texas native. She received her BFA in Design Communications from Texas Tech University. Her art and design interests are varied but focus on pushing the limits of impasto style paintings combined with mixed media.
“I grew up on a farm in west Texas where the only access I had to art was a “P” encyclopedia. At four years old I would thumb through “Paintings”, thinking “Anyone who can do this has got to be happy all the time!” As a professional artist, I’ve tried to honor that dream by shying away from mass production of my art, valuing craftsmanship, honoring my heart, and maintaining integrity. When someone collects a piece of my art, be it an original or limited edition print, I want them to know they have something valuable and rare.
My inspiration comes from daily nature walks where I pray, pour out my heart, practice gratitude, and ask for inspiration. I’m most drawn to forested trails where I see creation at its finest and gain lessons in the nature all around me.  My main goal is to translate beauty and love into my work.  When I paint it feels like I am singing with my whole entire heart.”
